The Trainers

Noel George

Avilly-Saint-Leonard

Noel has spent a lifetime in racing. He was surrounded by horses from the moment he was born. A successful amateur jockey, he has learned his trade working for some of the world’s best trainers. He spent summers working for Sir Mark Prescott and Joseph O’Brien, as well as a stint in America with Graham Motion, before joining top French trainer Fabrice Chappet. Ambitious and driven, Noel has made a superb start to his training career in partnership with Amanda. We at Provence Racing believe they will go to the very top.

Amanda Zetterholm

Avilly-Saint-Leonard

Amanda knows the French racing scene inside out. A former amateur jockey, she has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience working in racing in Australia, South Africa, Dubai, Britain and France. A qualified equine massage therapist, Amanda has held senior positions in the Aga Khan’s breeding operation. Together with Noel, we believe they have a superb blend of expertise to become one of the most powerful jumps stables in France and we’re delighted they are training the Provence Racing horses.

Tom George

Down Farm Slad

Tom has been training for more than 30 years. From his Cotswolds base nestled in the beautiful Slad valley high above Stroud he has sent out more than 900 winners. Always one to try to push the boundaries, he has enjoyed great success in France as well as shaping the careers of top-class horses in Britain like Nacarat, God’s Own, The World’s End and Summerville Boy. His experience and talent ensures the Provence Racing horses are in the safest hands when they are prepared before shipping to France.

FAQs

For further information or you're interested in getting involved, please contact

enquiries@provenceracing.com

  • We would love to talk to you about joining Provence Racing. You can register you interest by emailing enquiries@provenceracing.com or contact one of our directors Tom, Steve or Alice. Their details can be found on the contacts page.

  • Of course you can! We encourage all our syndicate members to come to Noel and Amanda’s yard at Avilly-Saint-Léonard and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while watching the horses train on the gallops.

Our travel partner Venatour will offer to arrange every step of your trip to France with bespoke packages where demand dictates.

When your horse is on holiday he will reside at Tom George’s racing stables in the heart of the Cotswolds, so there will be plenty of chances to meet your horse.

  • There will be 12 shares per horse. Two of those will be held by Provence Racing Tom and Steve (one each) as our founders have such belief in this venture. That means, effectively, there will be 10 owners in each horse.

Our members’ friends and family will be more than welcome to join us at the races and on the gallops in both Britain and France.

Our standard syndicates will operate on a two-year contract. There will, generally, be a one-off fee to purchase your share of the horse followed by a monthly fee to cover training, normal vets fees, gallops costs, entries, jockey etc. For more details please contact us at enquiries@provenceracing.com or by phoning one of the founders. Their numbers can be found on the ‘contact’ page.

We can also cater for bespoke syndicate requests, for owners wanting to use our expertise and experience but for a different number of members.

There is also the option to lease a horse, especially mares. French breeders are often keen to keep costs low by leasing fillies and mares. They are usually unraced so it does come with its risks but it does keep the initial one-off fee to a minimum.

  • You bet you do. It’s going to be so much fun welcoming our members to France to see the horses run. We will give our owners as much notice as possible about intended targets to make travelling to France as easy as possible.

Our travel partner Venatour will be offering to arrange all aspects of the trips provided there are enough numbers to take advantage of their generous group-booking discounts for hotels, flights and train tickets.

We look forward to seeing you all in the winners’ enclosure.
